Osong Ligaw goes to Pearl Farm Beach, Davao

For another adventure to the unknown, my human brought me to a posh resort in Mindanao - the Pearl Farm Beach Resort. Pearl Farm used to be a place where oysters are cultivated for their pearls. At present, it's a luxurious resort with a magnificent view and service.

I was a little worried to travel to Mindanao at first, but the reservation officers at Makati assured me of my safety so off we went to Davao!
  • Manila to Davao. We took Philippine Airlines this time, and I can say, I was very satisfied with the service. For a fee of Php6,000++, a roundtrip to and from Davao was such a breeze. The flight attendants were very polite and accommodating. They also served us a free snack.

  • Pearl Farm Marina Bay. You know you're in Davao when you see the ginormous Durian statue at the airport. Just a couple of minutes walk from the arrival area, you will see a queue for the cabs. Tell Kuya Taxi to bring you to the Marina Bay. This will take you around 20 minutes from the airport. BTW, do not fear riding the Yellow Taxis as they are not Airport Taxis like here in Manila. They have the same flagdown rate as the other cabs.
  • Pearl Farm Beach Resort. From the Marina Bay, you will board a small ferry which will take you to Pearl Farm after a 45 minute ride. The ride was smooth and in rare occasions, you can see dolphins and tuna swimming with the boat.
At Pearl Farm, there are several room accommodations to choose from which you can view here. My human and I decided to stay at the Samal House. This a house like those of the Samal tribes and are built on stilts on water. It also provides an excellent view of the Malipano Island and the awesome school of fish and sea urchins everyday! It also has a balcony to enjoy the night with a couple of beers!

Samal Suites and the Parola
Schools of tropical fishes greet us everyday!

Unfortunately, PF was undergoing a serious renovation to improve its facilities when we visited to we weren't able to enjoy the Parola with the *Infinity Pool and the *Maranao Restaurant. Instead, all meals were served al fresco near the beach - which is an awesome idea, btw. Speaking of food, guests have the options to avail of the buffet meals or go a la carte. Food is expensive. Nope, it's an understatement. Food is luxurious!

There are several watersports activities guests can enjoy. Like *kayaking, *jetskiing (Php 1,500 for 15 minutes!), *Banana boat ride, *Wind surfing *Water Skiing and *Scuba Diving. Of course, all are super expensive as well. We managed to try kayaking from PF to Malipano Island and Jetski around the area! Kuya Jetski even gave us a thrilling ride for another 15 minutes.

One should not also miss the Ylang Ylang Spa for a relaxing massage. You may choose to have it at Ylang Ylang Spa or at the comfort of your own room. Of course, we had ours in our room where we can doze off afterwards.

Spending 3 days and 2 nights at Pearl Farm is surely legendary! Everything might be really really expensive, but the comfort, the relaxation, and the awesome service are surely worth every peso.
